Title : Hockey-Life Author : =|[Gc2]|=Bedwetting Type Designer : =|[Gc2]|=B(o )( o)Bz Email : bedwetting_type@hotmail.com Website : http://bedwettingtype.tripod.com Date : August 10, 2002 Game : Half-Life -------------------------------- Description -------------------------------- A teamplay-only map of a fully-functional hockey rink. It has a scoring system, Gatorade jugs to give you health, an online FAQ, the audience chats randomly, and you can mow down your enemies with a Zamboni. Players start with only a crowbar, but every 3 rounds everyone gets weapons. The Mario Lemieux and Mark Messier hockey player models are included with the map. -------------------------------- Installation Instructions -------------------------------- Unzip everything into your "valve" directory (e.g. "C:\Sierra\Half-Life\Valve") with "Use Folder Names" turned on. The .BSP, .RES, and .TXT files will automatically go in your "maps" folder, the .WAV files will go in your "sound/hockey-life" folder, and the .MDL and .BMP files will go in "models/player/penguins" and "models/player/rangers". -------------------------------- Rules -------------------------------- * Players enter the game and automatically join the team with the least number of players. If you wish to switch teams, go to the console with the ` key and type "model ", where is the name of the player model for the other team. You can tell what the options are by looking at the scoreboard (Penguins and Rangers by default). * Each team spawns in front of their goal, facing the enemy goal. You must push the puck into the enemy goal, while keeping it out of your goal. By default, the blue net belongs to the Penguins team, and the red net belongs to the Rangers team. When a team scores a goal, 10 points are awarded to one person on that team, thus raising the team's total points. (Note: This is to ensure that the same number of points is always awarded, no matter how many players are on each team.) * Before the start of a round, both teams should be positioned on their side of the center line and wait until the countdown finishes, and the puck drops from the ceiling. At least one person on each team should be positioned just outside the "face-off" circle in the center. * After a goal, there is a 15 second delay. At this point you can move into position for next round or go to the team benches and restore your health. Pressing the "use" key on a Gatorade cooler raises your health by 25, all the way up to maximum. * In a normal round, players will start with only a crowbar. Every 3 rounds, however, there is a Weapons Round. A random weapon is given to all the players the moment the round starts. -------------------------------- Moving the Puck -------------------------------- There are two ways to move the puck. The easiest way is to simply bump into it. But if you need to hit the puck farther, aim at it, hold down the "use" key, and start moving. The puck will shoot in the direction you are MOVING, not where you are aiming. Holding down "use" longer will push the puck farther, but you may lose control of it. A simple tap of the key should be enough. The "use" key works best for shooting and passing only. -------------------------------- Running A Server -------------------------------- Make sure you have the Lecavalier and Mapleleafs player models that come with the map, and the hockey-life.res file is in your "maps" folder. If you don't have them, download the full .zip file at http://bedwettingtype.tripod.com. Hockey-Life should work fine just by starting a teamplay server (in "Advanced" server options), but players will have to download the Penguins and Rangers models from the server. If you want to start a game using different team models, it's more complicated. Download new teams at http://www.planethalflife.com/hockey. Then open the hockey-life.res file (in your "maps" folder) in Notepad and change these four lines to the paths of your new models: models/player/penguins/penguins.mdl models/player/penguins/penguins.bmp models/player/rangers/rangers.mdl models/player/rangers/rangers.bmp For example, if you want to use HappyGilmore and LAGretzky, you would change the lines to: models/player/happygilmore/happygilmore.mdl models/player/happygilmore/happygilmore.bmp models/player/lagretzky/lagretzky.mdl models/player/lagretzky/lagretzky.bmp Then type "mp_teamoverride 0" in the console, and define the team models with "mp_teamlist ", separating them with a semicolon (i.e. mp_teamlist "happygilmore;lagretzky"). Restart the server, and you're done. -------------------------------- Technical Info -------------------------------- Single Player : No Cooperative : No Deathmatch : -- NO.
